Distance is not a problem

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Straight Talk for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

In a long distance relationship, distance is always the reason why two lovers fight. And the only remedy for that is constant communication.

Being in such, I always make it a point to text my loved one every time I wake up until I go to sleep. And sometimes when I feel like I miss him too much, I call him and we talk for hours.

But mind you, distance is not the only problem that we had. Financial constraints was also a pain in the neck most especially when our bills get so high. We used to fight about it a lot. But guess what? We have already overcome that stage.

My mom suggested that we take advantage of Straight Talk and its various plans. And so we did, and wallah! Problem solved. Mom knows best!

I love the idea that I feel richer with Straight Talk because I cut my cell phone bill in half. You have to be crazy to be on a contract these days when you can get everything you need without one.

Currently I am in the “All You Need Plan” which meets even the needs of heavy phone users like me with 1,000 minutes, 1,000 texts and 30 MB of web data. There are other plans though, like the Unlimited Monthly service which is only $45.  That already includes calls, text, picture messaging, and web. Can you imagine making unlimited calls, text, picture messaging and web for a whole year, for only $499.00? And what's nice about this is that 411 calls are already included at no extra charge and it is free from activation, reactivation, or termination fees. As for long distance calls, Straight Talk International Long Distance Service enables you to make international calls from your home, cell or office phone at low rates. It's everything you need in one package! hook, line and sinker on the go!

Imagine the amount of money you could save switching to Straight Talk! I did save a lot! And the greatest thing about it is that I did not only have the luxury to call my boyfriend, but my friends as well. I always call a friend and he would ask,  "What would you buy with the extra money you save?" I'd then smile and say, "With that amount of savings, I could shop whole day!"

What I love most about Straight Talk is that there are no contracts, no surprise bills and no credit checks. There is an assurance of a great nationwide coverage and excellent reception/connectivity. Finally, Straight Talk only uses trusted phone manufacturers like LG, Motorola, Kyocera, Nokia and Samsung.

I used a reconditioned phone and they are available from $10.00 with camera, mp3 player, mobile web access, and blue-tooth capability. Great for young users! As for my hubby though, he chose one of the amazing smart phones; touch screen phones, and app capable phones with features like voice navigation, camera, video recorder, music player, instant messaging, and Bluetooth®.

So all in all, not only did we save money, we saved our love and our relationship.

Ponds Ended My Misery

This post brought to you by Walgreens. All opinions are 100% mine.

A few months ago, I did not have to think about wearing make up. I was in school, and all I ever used to compliment my face was powder. However, since I have already graduated, and since I am now working in one of the biggest companies in the country, it is a must to wear make up.

My biggest dilemma was how to remove my make up every after shift, most especially my waterproof mascara. It was such a hassle that I end up hurting my self because I have to remove it with just tissue and water. Gladly, one of my friends suggested that I use one of Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Products, specifically the Pond's Original Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes.

I tried the product and God! it saved me my misery. It does remove make-up easily, even my mascara was removed with just a few wipes. Another plus of this product is that it is dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic and suitable for sensitive skin. I found out that it is more effective at removing make-up than any other leading towelette and it is even around $2 cheaper.

I love buying this product because it does not only help me, it also helps the community. Why? Purchase of every Walgreens Brand Health & Wellness Product supports bringing preventive wellness services to local communities through the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™

I recently found out that Walgreens will contribute up to $3 million annually to the Walgreens Way to Well Fund™ and that Walgreens Way to Well Fund™ will provide free preventive health tests as well as other health and wellness services and education to local communities. Some of those services will include preventive health tests through the National Urban League Health & Wellness Tour and vouchers redeemable in select stores.

See? It like hitting two birds with one stone. A less-hassle life for me and a promise of a better life for the community. For details, visit walgreens.com/waytowell.

Oh by the way, some of my co-bloggers are having their giveaways. Their prizes are Walgreens Gift Cards. You can check it out here: http://socialspark.com/WalgreensBrandSweeps

Who's to blame? (Willie allows a child to macho dance!)

The video above shows the incident wherein TV5, one of the biggest television networks in the Philippines, allows a six-year old child to do a "macho dance" in one of their shows, Willing-Willie hosted by ill-famed Willie Revillame. Furthermore, the host made the poor child repeat the dance a couple of times.

There are a lot of debates going on as to who was to blame for the incident. Here are my two cents:
TV5, I know for sure that you had a screening and a run-through of the show so why would you allow this? Why would you allow a child to do such a demeaning act?
Willie, instead of stopping the child, you made fun out of him instead. Didn't you find it somewhat, wrong to watch that you even made the child go to the stage and repeat the deed once more? That you even had the guts to throw jokes about him?
Parent, what the hell was in your mind? There are a lot of other talents to choose from but why that? WHY A MACHO DANCER? Teaching your child to dance that way is really sick and disturbing.
Seeing this, I felt sorry for the child. I'm not the right place to judge but please allow me to do so.
TV5, I never knew you could be as unprofessional as this. I never knew that you would let this act happen just to gain more viewers.
Willie, you said you've changed, but you didn't, you never did. You're tactless and stupid. Calling you the S word a million times would not equate to the amount of damage you did not just to the child but to the image of our country as well. Had it been you child, would you act the same way? I guess not.
I don't know what's in your mind that you can bear making jokes out of that. The first seconds of watching the video was unbearable, yet you, you made fun out of it. You're worst than corrupt officials.
Speaking of corrupt officials, a lot say that this is all your fault. Had you not corrupted, Filipinos would not have been that desperate to earn money.
It's sad that this kind of things happen. What's even sadder is that some Filipinos actually find the show entertaining. Nonetheless, I hope the persons involved will proper sanctions just to their actions.
See Movie and Television Review and Classification Board’s briefer on the issue! Also, please write a comment on the post if you support MTRCB's action.

Remembering EDSA 1986's Worth

With everything going on in the world now, most especially in the Middle East, let us reminisce the best gift of the Filipino people to the world: PAGKAKAISA (Unity).

Thru EDSA, we have proven that there is strength in unity; that we can be free without the need for bloodshed; and that with the use of rosaries and prayers, we can put an end to martial Law.

Today, I also wish that Filipinos will not waste this freedom that our grandparents fought for us - that government officials will no longer be corrupt; that priests will no longer be involved in a scandals; that teachers will do their job well, and that each one of us would care and love this country!

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!

Doing Racism Unconsciously

A black man walks to a bar.

A white man then says "Colored people are not allowed in here".

The black man, hurt, replied:

"When I'm born I'm black, when I'm cold I'm black, when I'm sick I'm black, and when I'm dead I'm black! But when You were born you were pink; when you're cold you're blue; when you're sick you're green, and when you're dead you're purple! Yet you have the nerve to call me colored?!"

Despite many of us saying we do not do Racism, I still think we do, but unconsciously. If you see a black man on the street, is the feeling the same when you see a white man? Don't you laugh at him? Or say "wow he's really dark" or worse, "his teeth is the only fair thing in his body". If you're answer is yes, then good for you. If not, then you might want to contemplate and repent. CAUSE RACISM IS WRONG. Let us stop racism!

Fixing Broken Hearts

I read this in my twitter account just minutes ago, "Infidelity is the top reason for break-ups." Do you agree? Cause I don't. I think the top-most reason is LYING, followed by JEALOUSY, then LACK OF TRUST, and the fourth is infidelity.

And sometimes, you just fall out of love for no reason. How about you? Have you ever tried breaking up with someone? What was the reason?

And I do agree with the photo above, when you break up with someone really dear to you, you wish you never knew and felt love; that physical pain is easier to heal than emotional one. However, just a reminder, you wouldn't know what REAL LOVE is, if you have not experienced PAIN. Right? So cheer up!

Do you really know how to follow instructions?

Let me share to you a story I learned from my teacher last night...

There was a Marine officer who ordered all his members to take of all their clothes and then told them to put on some swimming trunks. Afterwards, the officer told them to stand on the edge of the pool and wait for further instructions.

After thirty minutes, the officer hastily instructed the members to...

"JUMP!"

After hearing the instruction, the members jumped to the pool one after the other. However, they all failed the test. Yes, they did all the instructions. But the officer never told them to jump to the pool. He only said, jump! Why didn't they jump in their places?

Lesson? Think first before doing anything. Never expect and never assume. Cause sometimes, things doesn't go as planned.

Walang Natira By Gloc 9

I really like this song. It speaks about the real situation of the Philippines. It speaks how much our country is losing because all Filipino entrepreneurs have already decided to go outside the country.

But no, I cant blame them. Our economy has not improved despite the claims of the many. If it has indeed, then I cant feel it. In fact, with all modesty and honesty, I no longer see our country in a better state. However, I would love to be corrected with this matter.

Sticky: My #secretblog# has a full story of this post! So if you would like to read more of what happened in the event, then please visit that site. Its a secret blog so I cant post the URL here. But if you want to, you may contact me using the comment/contact tab. I'll willingly share it to you. ^_^

Last week, I attended the 7th Spectrum National Press Conference and 1st Spectrum National Press Awards in Bacolod City. And here's the good news: Kenneth Buenaflor Pael, Pol Eso, and I bagged the Best News story, Best Editorial Cartoon and Best Editorial awards respectively.

Our group, more than anyone else I guess, was really overwhelmed for bagging three major awards in the event! Congrats everyone! The NORSUnian (our student publication) rocks! :D

About the photo, that was my attire during the fellowship night. Furthermore, all the delegates got hooked in the song entitled "terrified" so I used it's lyrics as my caption. The event was a blast; I'll surely treasure the memories!

Celebrating love month :)

Sticky: My #secretblog# is now up! So if you would like to read more of my personal posts, then please visit that site. Its a secret blog so I cant post the URL here. But if you want to, you may contact me using the comment tab. I'll willingly share it to you. ^_^

If my heart could talk, it wouldn't have anything to say but... i Love you ♥

Yay! Hello love month! There are a lot of things to look forward to this month. For some of us, this is the perfect moment to let our loved ones feel that they are very important to us. On the other side of the coin, this month could also be very hard for some - lovelessness, break-ups, and most of all,heart-breaking memories; are just some of the things that turns this love month upside down.

Anyhow, unlike how most of us sees it, I don't think February is just for lovers but also for friends. So if you think your love life is screwed up, don't fret. Cause love has never been for lovers alone, but also for friends. :)

SPREAD SOME LOVE :*

THANK YOU FOR HURTING US.

I have been in the student publication since my high school days. And as of press time, I am the editor in chief of our student publication. Since I am surrounded by people in the journalism industry, I very well know that no newspaper could be err-free. There will always be spelling or a grammar errors because that is inevitable. We're humans, and we do mistakes.

Yesterday, we released an issue without noticing that there was an error with the headline. We sucked, I know. I fully admit that we were irresponsible for not noticing it when in fact it has the largest font size in the whole issue. But what's done is done, and we couldn't change the fact that there has already been a damage done. We're deeply sorry.

However, what dismayed me most, is how a person with a high rank in the university called us STUPID just because we committed that mistake. We are definitely not stupid. We are clumsy, NOT STUPID. How can a so-called educated person call us that? In fact, she even tried her very best in spreading the news by telling a student from our that the headlines is wrong. Unfortunately for her, that student is also a member of the pub.

When a student in the university achieves something relevant (e.g board topnotcher), the first thing they say is that it is because of the quality education that the school offers. They always want to be included in the praise. But now that something bad has happen, they call us stupid.

Well thank you so much ma'am. For showing us that you're only there for us when were on top. Thanks for showing us that "being a second mother" to us is no more than a facade. Thank you so much!

Dear Lord

Since my other site is still down, I'll just write my entry here.

Since this year started, I had several sad experiences already. I don't know if God is just testing me or am I just being punished, nonetheless, I know that all of these is a part of his great plan for me.

On the first day of January, my family grieved for the loss of my uncle. He passed away on December 31st of last year. Now who would want to celebrate the coming of the new year? So we just went to sleep and cried our hearts out.

Mom went to General Santos City to join the funeral of her brother. She had no sleep and so, so got so sick. She even lost her voice and could not utter a single word. Twas only my mom too, who was able to go to the funeral since the fare to the said city from ours would cost around P8,000.00 per person. It was really heartbreaking that we couldn't bid farewell to Tito Mike.

A few days after, Abby, my sister, got allergies on her arms. At first, we thought it twas nothing serious. So we just let her drink antihistamine. The day after, it disappeared. I was almost relieved until mom texted me last night that Abby had high fever, cough, and there were allergies all over her body. When I received the text, I immediately cried.

Then I prayed.

Lord, tama na please. I know I always say I'm strong. And I'm trying to be. But when it comes to my family, I weaken. Wag nalang sila, please? Ako nlang. Ako na lang please. :(

I sure hope he would hear my prayers. I love you Lord.

HOW TO GET PR3 BLOGS

If you noticed, I complained about losing my PR, but now its back. It registers a high PR3 ranking. But before I reached that, let me share to you a very weird story on how I got my PR.

This blog was put up on May 2008. That time, I still had no idea on what PR is. In fact, I just made this to write about anything that happens on my life. Afterwards, I started to venture the blogosphere and made new friends. I then started to join giveaways and the like. That is slo why I learned about different ads like Adgitize and Entrecard. So I also joined them!

However, there will always come a time that one blogger will feel tired of writing - especially when there isn't something to write about; when the spark for writing is gone. And so, for nine long months, I was on hiatus. No updates, no ads, no link exchanges. Everything on this blog was sleeping.

However, as my boss in Odesk tried to research about me, he stumbled on this blog. He then said that he wanted to advertise here. And I was like, "What? That blog is dead sir." He replied to my surprise, "but that blog has very high PR".

I immediately checked the PR and it registered PR3. I was so happy and shocked at the same time, that I immediately changed its layout, did so many posts, and looked for blogs for link exchanges. I also included a CBOX in it. But that was my biggest mistake.

I did not know, because I have used CBOX before, that it allows pop-ads. So everytime someone visits my blog, an ad (a porn one :|) pops up. And I think that was the reason that after a week of putting it up, I lost my PR. When I checked it, it registered N/A. I was devastated. I tried everything to get my PR back but to no avail.

Fortunately, I stumbled on a blog with a similar problem to mine. I read that my loss of PR was due to a chatbox that allows pop-ads. I then replaced my CbOX with Shoutmix. So now, after a week of doing so, my PR is back!

Problem solved! So how to get a pr3 blog? Write always, do link exchanges with high ranking blogs, and DO NOT PUT CBOX.

That would be all!

FACEBOOK WILL END ON MARCH 15

...NOT!

I got pissed off yesterday after seeing that a news regarding the shutting down of Facebook on March 15 became a trending topic in Facebook, Twitter, and Plurk. What the?! Why would somebody believe such news? Its clearly a hoax and a lot actually panicked.

Its such a shame that after 15 minutes of opening Facebook, the news feed is filled with that story and out of 3k+ friends, more than 100 shared it. How ridiculous! It just shows how easy Filipino could be fooled. And that disappoints me.

How I wish they would think first and research about the before reacting.

My Secret Hide-out

NO OFFLINE FRIENDS ALLOWED.
Recently, I bought a new domain for my newest blog. And fortunately, I found a free host for that site. I also scouted for a cute theme that I could use for the mean time. I ordered a theme from a friend and she said she could finish it by Monday. :)

I officially launched it yesterday and upon pressing that "publish" button, my heart jumped for happiness. I wanted this new domain so badly because I want to have a secret hide-out -- a place where I could post all the happenings in my life. I would also write about my unspoken thoughts in that blog with no limit or fear that somebody might be able to read it.

Since its a secret side, I cant post the URL here. So if you want to know the URL, please comment below with your email ad, then I'll send it to you. :) Thanks

That's all for now.

Old habits like being late and cheating die hard

A few days ago, I have included in my goals for the new year to not be late in class. However, just a day before the classes resumed, I came in late in my Statistics class. And if you want to know what I am currently doing, I am copying some assignments for the 4-5:30pm class (This is actually just copied from someone else too so who knows if this is right or not). How disappointing of me!

But I do not blame my self entirely. I know that old habits die hard (according to gossip girl), and so I will give my self another chance to strive harder in school. I know that slowly but surely, I can bring the studious lass I used to be before.

How about you? How was the first and second day of your class? :)

Why we did not have a New Year's Eve Celebration

After how many years of creating noise only out of torotots, my grandfather bought a firecracker. I was really stunned that he bought one. It made me more excited and hyped that night, December 31st of 2010. Hours before that, we have already cooked the pasta, salad, etc. Everything was ready. At around 9:00pm, we arranged the table and set up our food. Then the news knocked all of us out.

"Wala na si Mike," mom said. My mother cried really hard that she almost lost her breath. For the first time in my life, I saw her cry really hard. Mike is my tito. He is my mother's brother.

It aint easy losing a loved one, and most of all, it aint easy seeing my mother cry that hard. So far, this has been the hardest and the most painful New Year's Eve.
